Description.

Head, pronotum, elytra black; scutellum dark reddish-brown; abdomen black with strongly iridescent lustre; antennae dark reddish-brown; mandibles and labrum reddish-brown, maxillary and labial palpi yellowish-brown; legs dark yellowish-brown.
Head subquadrate, subparallel-sided, obtusely rounded at basal angles, slightly wider than long. Tempora almost evenly rounded, sparsely and coarsely punctate; eyes large, moderately prominent, about 1.43 times as long as tempora. Dorsal surface of head with moderately numerous, large setiferous punctures, vertex largely impunctate. Entire head with distinct microsculpture of transverse waves. Antennae long, antennomere I very long, thickened towards apex, antennomere I about two times as long as antennomere II, antennomere III about 1.4 times as long as antennomere II, following antennomeres gradually decreasing in length, but all antennomeres longer than wide, antennomere XI obliquely truncate.
Pronotum approximate rectangular, slightly convex, posterior angles markedly rounded, slightly wider than head, parallel-sided, moderately and finely punctate, punctures separated by two to four times their diameter, narrowly impunctate along midline, these punctures similar in size; as on head, microsculpture of pronotum obsolete.
Elytra slightly longer than pronotum; elytra and scutellum densely and finely punctate, punctures separated by one to two times their diameter, punctures much finer than those on head and pronotum.
Abdomen wide, very gradually narrowing towards apex, densely and finely punctate, punctures separated by two to four times their diameter; tergites III–V with two basal lines, elevated area between basal carinae with setiferous punctures nearly forming a row.
Sternite VIII with moderately wide, obtusely triangular emargination (

); Genital segment with stylus of tergite IX simple, densely setose apically, two longer and stronger setae in the middle of tergite IX (

). Sternite IX with asymmetrical basal portion, apex deeply emarginate, each lobe prolonged, forming modified rod-like extensions (

). Tergite X triangular, slightly, triangularly emarginate at apex (

Aedeagus with median lobe slightly exceeding paramere, narrowed into obtusely rounded apex, aedeagus slightly wider than paramere, with short setae irregularly arranged along apex of paramere (

), inner face of paramere with numerous peg setae, some finer peg-setae in apical marginal area; in lateral view, apical portion of aedeagus moderately bent ventrad, paramere elongate. (

Remarks.
Eccoptolonthus xiaolongmenensis
Fei & Zhou
sp. nov.
is most similar to
Eccoptolonthus rutiliventris
(
Sharp, 1874
)
but can be easily distinguished by male tergite X with acute triangle medioapical emargination; and the median lobe in lateral view weakly produced ventrad than in
Eccoptolonthus rutiliventris
(
Sharp, 1874
)
.
Etymology.
The specific epithet refers to the name of the
type
locality, Xiaolongmen, a National Forest Park near
Beijing
.
Distribution
. This species is at present known only from the
type
locality.
