For a revised description see Bastida-Zavala and ten Hove (2003b) . Habitat. Depth: 0–1 m . Rocks. Salinity 19–37‰. Fouling species. Distribution. Amphi-American. Gulf of Mexico , Eastern U.S.A. and Caribbean Sea; Hawaii , Oaxaca ( Mexico ) and Panama (Bastida-Zavala & ten Hove 2003a-b). Hydroides sanctaecrucis is an invasive species in Northern Australia and Singapore ( Lewis et al . 2006 ). Remarks. Hydroides sanctaecrucis is a ship-transported serpulid that presumably colonized the Pacific of Panama and Oaxaca relatively recent, after the building the tourist complex of Huatulco, Oaxaca , Mexico , 20 years ago. Thirty years ago Long (1974) recorded the species from Hawaii. Recently it was recorded as an invasive species in Northern Australia and Singapore , on fouled hulls of ships, apparently restricted to marinas and harbours ( Lewis et al . 2006 ). The Pacific localities recorded here support Long’s (1974) record of this taxon from Hawaii.
