is an invasive species in Northern
Australia
and
Singapore
(
Lewis
et al
. 2006
).
Remarks.
Hydroides sanctaecrucis
is a ship-transported serpulid that presumably colonized the Pacific of
Panama
and
Oaxaca
relatively recent, after the building the tourist complex of Huatulco,
Oaxaca
,
Mexico
, 20 years ago. Thirty years ago
Long (1974)
recorded the species from Hawaii. Recently it was recorded as an invasive species in Northern
Australia
and
Singapore
, on fouled hulls of ships, apparently restricted to marinas and harbours (
Lewis
et al
. 2006
). The Pacific localities recorded here support
Long’s (1974)
record of this taxon from Hawaii.
