Type species: Alona elegans Kurz, 1875 . Etymology. Subgenus is named after the Latin “ ephemeral ” - temporary, and the generic name Alona where it was lumped in, as most species of the group inhabit temporary water bodies. Diagnosis. Medium to large-size Coronatella , maximum length of adult female from 0.55 to 0.75 mm . Sculpture of the valves as densely or sparsely spaced lines. Posteroventral angle of valves with numerous uniform setulae. Seta arising from basal segment of antennal endopodite thick and long, much longer than endopodite. Accessory seta of limb I long, almost as long as the ODL seta. Setae 2-3 of IDL armed with uniform thin setulae. Exopodite of limb II with very short, rudimentary seta.
