Recognition characters:
Brownish species: length
18–23 mm
; mystax, black and white bristles intermixed; thorax compressed laterally, brownish gray pollinose with blackish stripe dorsally delimiting mane of black setae; marginal scutellar bristles 10 black; scutellar setae white or black; abdomen largely black, narrow posterior margins of abdominal tergites gray pollinose; in males, abdominal segments 6 and 7 silvery white pollinose; legs, femora black, tibiae and tarsi reddish brown.
