Macquart’s (1838)
original description includes a drawing (pl. 11, fig. 2) that is quite detailed for features on the wing, scutum and abdomen. It is questionable, nevertheless, if all references to
S. fuscipennis
(Macquart)
correspond to specimens conspecific with the
type
.
Costa (1866: 40)
list one specimen of this species in the Camilo Rondani Collection, now at MZUN, and it may be of interest if the
type
specimen of
Rhyphus fuscipennis
Macquart
is not located.
