Comments
A large colony estimated to exceed 10,000 individuals was found distributed among several chambers of
Gua
Sungai at Marang and a second (> 500 individuals) found at
Gua
Kelelawar at Tintang. Else- where in Borneo it is found in large num- bers in most karst areas surveyed, including offshore islands in
Sabah
(Yasuma and Andau, 2000), although these captures in Sangkulirang represent one of few records in Kalimantan. Although the taxonomy of
Miniopterus
is poorly understood,
M. australis
is distinguished in Borneo by its small size (FA in Sangkulirang
35.9– 37.8 mm
).
