Diversity.
Northern Hemisphere, with five species in the Nearctic (one Holarctic species) and Palaearctic (five species) Regions.
Identification.
Lindroth (1963b: 297-298) covered the species found in North America.
Taxonomic Note.
This taxon is listed as a junior synonym of
Trichoplataphus
Netolitzky by some authors (e.g., Kryzhanovskij et al. 1995: 84). Toledano (2000: 36-37) discussed the taxonomic status of both taxa. According to Maddison (2012: 569),

is closely related to the subgenus
Plataphus
.
