The wasp stood by the paralyzed wafer-lid trapdoor spider as it laid, dorsal side upward, on the sandy ground ( Pickart 2008 ) . CA : Lassen County ; Lassen National Forest ; near Snag Lake ; 18 September 2014 ; M. Relkin (@relkinshelpins). Host: Antrodiaetus cf gertschi (Coyle), adult of subadult female. The wasp straddled the folding trapdoor spider as it laid on the ground, dorsal side upward. Then, as the spider attempted to escape, the wasp re-straddled and stung it ( Relkin 2014 ) . The wasp pulled the paralyzed folding trapdoor spider on the ground, dorsal side upward, grasping its left 3 rd leg with her mandibles ( Yates 2018 ).
