Yu and Zheng (1992

first suggested full species status for
huangensis
, based on differing morphology, and later (
Yu et al., 1997
, 2000) supported this with molecular studies.
O. huangensis
appears to be broadly sympatric with
O. thibetana
, but largely allopatric in distribution with
O. cansus
and
O. thomasi
.
