Mesophilous species, common in deciduous and mixed forest in valleys where syringa bushes are abundant. Univoltine. The moth flies from June to August. Larvae feed on Syringa amurensis , Fraxinus rhynchophila , F . mandshurica (Oleaceae) . Overwinters as pupa. Distribution ( Fig. 32 ). Far East (South of Khabarovsk and Primorye terr.), Korea , Japan , northeast China . Notes. Early authors often confused this species with other Acronictinae . Hampson (1909 , pl. 124, fig. 3) misidentified and illustrated C. pacifica as " Craniophora albonigra Herz, 1904 " [currently Cranionycta albonigra (Herz, 1904) ]. This misidentification by Hampson was repeated by Warren (1914, pl. 75g ), Draudt (1937 , pl. IV, fig. f3 and g3) and most recently by Chen (1982 , pl. 77, fig. 1751). Kozhanchikov (1950) misidentified and illustrated this species as “ Craniophora niveosparsa Matsumura, 1926 ” [currently Narcotica niveosparsa (Matsumura, 1926) ].
