Type locality. Italy (“Habitat in Italia Dr. Allioni”). Material examined. None. Identity. Isotrias rectifasciana ( Haworth, 1811 ) ( Chlidanotinae , Polyorthini ). Remarks. The synonymy was proposed by Werneburg (1864) and was repeated in Brown (2005) and Beccaloni et al. (2005) . The name has never been used as senior synonym, and I. rectifasciana is a well known species prevailing in the literature. According to the provisions of Article 23.9 (ICZN 1999), we propose the conservation of Haworth’s name ( nomen protectum ) and the suppression of the Fabrician name trifasciana ( nomen oblitum ). Appendix 4 lists 28 references by more than ten different authors that have used I. rectifasciana in the last 50 years.
