Tabuina baiteta
. 44–47 Palp of holotype male (44 prolateral view, 45 ventral view, 46 retrolateral view, 47 same view as Fig. 45, diagrammed to show embolus (e), conductor (c) and median apophysis (ma). Star marks position of tip of embolus, cradled within conductor. 48 Male in alcohol. 49 Epigynum, ventral view. 50 Cleared epigynum, dorsal view. Scale bars 0.1 mm on genitalia, 1 mm on body of male.
Diagnosis.
The complex genitalia are distinctive, especially the long embolus with a loop that contacts the cymbium (
Figs 44–45
) and the boat-shaped conductor (
Figs 45, 47
). Epigynum has sinuate ducts visible just beneath the surface (
Fig. 49
).
Description.
Male
(
holotype
). Carapace length 2.9; abdomen length 2.8. Chelicerae: large but not elongate or projecting. Three promarginal and three retromarginal teeth. Palpus (
Figs 44–47
): embolus long, looping distally into the cymbium then back proximally to be cradled in a boat-shaped conductor. The tip of the embolus is hidden within the tip of the conductor. Tibia of first leg with three pairs of ventral macrosetae; first metatarsus with three pairs. Carapace high; posterior eyes on mild tubercles. PME large, angled diagonally forward. Intercheliceral sclerite not enlarged into a visible horn. Colour: faded, but with dark marking still visible on sides of carapace and abdomen (
Fig. 48
). Prominent tufts of pale hairs project lateral to the ALE.
Female
(
paratype
). Carapace length 3.4; abdomen length 4.4. Chelicerae: three promarginal and three retromarginal teeth. Palp with tarsal claw. Tibia of first leg with three pairs of ventral macrosetae; first metatarsus with three pairs. Epigynum (
Figs 49–50
) with posterior openings and sinuate ducts visible; internally with highly coiled ducts. Carapace as in male. Colour: similar to that of male.
