Material examined. 1 ♂ ( Fig. 1G–I ) ( CHTS ): JAPAN , Yonaha Mountain , Kunigami , Okinawa ; 8–9.VIII.2016 ; Hao Xu & Jian-Yue Qiu leg.; body length 1.93 cm , width 0.67 cm , length/width ratio: 2.88; aedeagus ( Fig. 5C ) length: 4.95 mm , width: 1.26 mm , length/width ratio: 3.93 . Distribution. Japan (Hachijô and Tsushima islands south to Miyako Island) ( Frank & Sekerka, 2020 ). Adult host plant. Castanopsis sieboldii sieboldii , Lithocarpus edulis , Quercus phillyreoides , Quercus spp. ( Ohmomo & Fukutomi, 2013 ). Remarks. According to Frank & Sekerka (2020) the specimen above can certainly be identified as C . ( C .) lewisii lewisii by the habitus characters and distribution, but the characters of aedeagus is obviously similar to C . ( C .) lewisii nakatai . Since the apices of parameres also exhibit variation in C. ( C. ) hainanensis sp. nov . , we consider the elytral characters sometimes more significant than the apices of parameres. Hence, we finally identified the specimen as C . ( C .) lewisii lewisii . Whether the two subspecies of C . ( C .) lewisii should be divided into more subspecies or synonymised may need further research with molecular methods.
