Adults ( Fig. 7 ): Wingspan 12.0–19.0 mm. Filatima pallipalpella is superficially diagnosed by the dark brown forewing with black spot at middle of fold, at middle and end of cell that all are surrounded by yellowish brown scales, an indistinct grayish brown fascia at basal 3/4, and the under surface of the male hindwing with a row of scales in basal 2/3 along R 5 ; in the male genitalia by the tegumen incised from middle of the posterior margin to posterior 1/3 and the pedunculus 1/2 the length of the valva, the slender valva, the broad sacculus beak-shaped apically, and the apically broadened saccus, and the phallus with wing-shaped, strongly sclerotized serrate lobe in the middle ( Fig. 27 ). This species differs from the similar species F. transsilvanella Kovács & Kovács 2001 in the phallus having the above mentioned lobe, which is absent in F. transsilvanella ( Junnilainen et al. 2010 : pl. 9, fig. 35).
