Diagnosis. L. lupina differs from its close relative L. vulcanea by its pale ochreous-brown ground colour of forewing, whereas L. vulcanea is darker, deep brown to claret-brown, most often with clearly visible violaceous shade. (See under the detailed diagnosis of the previous species). Wingspan 44–49 mm . Head and body brownish-grey; collar dark chocolate-brown. Forewing ochreous-brown with sparse dark brown irroration; subbasal line indistinct; antemedial line arched, with distinct costal patch; reniform stigma large, dark brown, consists of 5-6 streak-like spots; orbicular stigma absent; postmedial and subterminal lines distinct, their costal patches fused into long dark streak; terminal line a row of black dots. Hindwing brownish; small discal spot present on underside; outer third dark brown; fringes as ground colour. Male genitalia ( Figs 11, 12 ). Symmetrical. Uncus long, narrow, evenly curved, with fine tip, valva narrow, elongated; ampulla long, narrow, rod-like, located subapically; aedeagus straight, long, narrow, cylindrical; vesica membranous, multidiverticulate, medial part has numerous diverticula variable in shape and size, terminal tube long, membranous ( Fig. 12 ). Female genitalia ( Figs 17–20 ). Ovipositor large, papillae anales hairy with long setae on apical edges. Apophyses anteriores relatively short, apophyses posteriores thin, longer than apophyses anteriores. Antrum long, dilated posteriorly, ostium broad, posterior margin with small U-shaped cleft. Corpus bursae membranous, ovoid. Distribution. Russian Far East (Primorye terr.), China .
