Synonym: Pararchinotodelphys gurneyi Illg, 1955 Illg (1955) described this species based on 4 adult females extracted from the branchial cavity of Styela canopus (Savigny, 1816) (as S. partita (Stimpson, 1852)) collected off the Atlantic coast of America at Martha’s Vineyard in 1881, at a depth of 134 fathoms (= 245 m ).
