FIGURE 100. A. malarius sp. nov. A, habitus; B, face; C, head and mesosoma, dorsal view; D, metasoma. Paratypes : 1 ♀ , Thailand : Nakhon Nayok Province , Khao Yai NP , behind vegetable garden, 19.vii.2006 , 14° 24.761’ N , 101° 22.816’ E , P Sandao (voucher BCLDQ00185, Genbank JQ388336 ) ( QSBG ) ; 1 ♀ , Nakhon Nayok Province , Khao Yai NP , secondary dry evergreen forest, 2.ii.2007 , 14° 24.931’ N , 101° 22.627’ E , 751m , W Sookkho (voucher BCLDQ00189, Genbank JF962542 ) ( BMNH ) . Body length 6.3 mm , fore wing length 4.5 mm and antenna length 7.0 mm. Antenna with 48–49 flagellomeres. Terminal flagellomere pointed but not acuminate. Penultimate flagellomeres somewhat moniliform. Median flagellomeres 2 x longer than wide. Occipital carina complete, evenly rounded dorsally, ventrally joining hypostomal carina. Mesopleuron largely rugulose with foveate and striate rugose sculpture dorsally, precoxal sulcus weakly impressed, rugose, speculum large. Midlongitudinal propodeal carina complete or obliterated medially. Propodeum with broadly rounded (not carinate) posterolateral tubercles. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 2.4 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Fore wing vein 3-SR 1.25 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2- SR+M 1.15 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 2.6 x vein 3-SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 2 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing without vein m-cu. Apex of hind tibia without comb of specialised adpressed setae. Claws with pecten of 4 or 5 short, stout teeth along length of basal lobe. Basal lobes of 1 st tergite moderately large, steeply concave posteriorly. Third tergite without or with weakly differentiated midlongitudinal carina. Etymology. Name derived from ‘malar’ in reference to the large malar space. Notes. Four males from Chiang Mai in the BMNH collection possibly belong to this species and are very similar except that the malar space is slightly shorter, the 2 nd metasomal tergite orange and the 3 rd tergite with strong midlongitudinal carina. Keyed out twice because hind coxal sculpture less conspicuously.
