Wesener & Wägele (2008)

Zoosphaerium
was divided into speciesgroups, but it remains unclear if those species-groups represent monophyletic units which might deserve generic status. One new species-group, based on
Z. blandum
(
de Saussure & Zehntner, 1902
)
is introduced here. Only two of the new species could not be assigned to a species-group.
