Diagnosis.
This species is separated of the other species in the group by the following combination of characters: cephalic carina very low, with a weak pair of tubercles (
Figs 6
A–C); males excavation at the anterior portion of the hypomeron bearing few sparse setae; females excavation at the hypomeron very weak, almost absent; pronotal disc wrinkled and bearing deep punctures (
Figs 6
A–C) and elytral interstriae strongly wrinkled and lacking distinct punctures (
Figs 1
E, 6A–B). This species has a detailed description in the work of
Martínez and Pereira (1967)
and therefore does not need a re-description.
Distribution.
Since its description,
D. machadoi
has been collected only in "Brejo de Altitude" forests at the Biological Reserve of Serra Negra, municipalities of Floresta, Inajá and Tacaratu Pernambuco,
Brazil
(
Fig. 7
). The Brejo de Altitude forests are moist forests found on the higher parts of hills and plateaus in the Brazilian Caatinga, a semi-arid brazilian biome.
