Male abdomen and terminalia: S5 with a pair of posteromedial lobes, lobes posteroventrally with medially directed spicules; a row of strong setae anterior to lobes; row longer than width of modified posteromedial part of sclerite. Cercus laterally compressed, uniform in width, apex distinctly bent anteriorly (almost 90°). Surstylus ventrolaterally with thumb-like process and ventrally with smaller tooth-like protuberance. Distiphallus LFS sheetlike, apically long and tapered; FDS form a posteriorly bent tongue; SDS weakly sclerotized, spatulate. Etymology: This species is the largest, most heavy-bodied species of Bromeloecia . Thus, the name refers to the body size (Latin ‘magnus’: large, great). Comments: B. magna is found at relatively high elevations in the mountain ranges of Costa Rica and northern Panama . It is the largest species of Bromeloecia . Although B. magna and B. abundantia differ widely in body size, they are very similar in external characters (to differentiate the two, see comments below the description of B. abundantia ) . Male cerci of B. magna are always flexed inwards in dry specimens.
