Girault, 1913d: 232
, 252.
Type
species:
Quadrastichus nigrinotatus
Girault
, by original designation.
Quadrastichus
was synonymised with
Aprostocetus
by
Bouček (1988)
.
Graham & La Salle (1991)
resurrected it from the synonymy and revised its status as a senior synonym of
Cecidotetrastichus
Kostjukov. A
complete synonymy list for
Quadrastichus
is provided by Graham (1991). Generic keys which would allow identification to
Quadrastichus
are provided by
Graham (1987
as
Cecidotetrastichus
),
La Salle (1994)
,
Schauff et al. (1997)
and
Narendran (2007)
. Many species of
Quadrastichus
are associated with galls, usually as endoparasitoids of
Diptera
Cecidomyiidae
and
Hymenoptera
Cynipidae
. Its other hosts include
Coleoptera
Curculionidae
and
Buprestidae
(Graham 1991;
La Salle 1994
;
Noyes 2019
).
Kim
et al.
(2004)
recorded one species as an invasive pest inducing galls on coral trees (
Erythrina
spp.
:
Fabaceae
). In total 89 species are reported worldwide (
Noyes 2019
) including 25 species from
India
.
Narendran (2007)
provided a key to the Oriental species.
