Compressed dorso-ventrally 2.5x longer than high. Mesonotum 1.1x longer than width of mesoscutum. Mesonotum flat dorsally; mesoscutum protruding anteriorly. Pronotum dorsally covered by protruding mesoscutum; laterally with crenulate pronotal groove, with scattered setae posteriorly and ventrally; mesoscutum densely setose over entire surface; scutellar sulcus with a line of scattered setae; scutellum setose over entire surface; notauli crenulate, not visible dorsally; mid pit long and narrow, 0.68x length of mesoscutum; scutellum 0.78x longer than wide, smooth and mat; scutellar sulcus 0.07x longer than wide, strongly crenulated; mesoscutellar trough dived into two portions by oblique carina, the proximal portion smooth and triangular, and distal portion rounded and rugose. Metanotum without median carina; laterally rugose with scattered setae. Mesopleuron mostly bare, with scattered setae concentrated on anterior corner and ventrally, few setae posteriorly; sternaulus crenulate, almost reaching epicnemial carina; anterior corner of mesopleuron smooth. Epicnemial carina present ventrally, incomplete. Metapleuron mostly rugose with mat surface, with long and scattered setae. Propodeum rugose, with long median carina; areola absent anteriorly, posteriorly with two distinct cross-bridges and two pairs of transverse lateral carina. Face brown, darker centrally, mandibles honey yellow with brown teeth, palpi white. Propleuron and pronotum laterally orange-brown. Mesoscutum mostly orange-brown dorsally. Antenna light brown, darkening toward dark brown apex. Legs pale yellow. Metasoma beyond TI brown. Wings hyaline, veins brown, stigma white with brown borders. Male . Unknown Biology. Unknown Comments. A. compressithorax sp. n. is a very distinct species due to its dorso-ventrally compressed mesosoma with flat mesonotum, being most of the proportions on this region quite different from other species. For instance, the scutellar sulcus is 0.07x longer than wide, as compared with 0.2–0.5 in other species, and the mesosoma is 2.5x longer than high, as compared with 1.6–2.0 in other species. The mesoscutum is projected forward, covering the pronotum dorsally, apparently as a result of the dorso-ventral compression of mesosoma . Another unique feature of this species is the oblique carina bisecting the mesoscutellar trough into two portions, with the proximal portion being smooth and the distal one rugose. Distribution. Known only from type locality in Nuble, Chile , at 1,300 to 1,600 meters above sea level. Etymology. The species is named in reference to its dorsoventrally compressed body. Type material. Holotype , female ( CNC ). “ CHILE Nuble / Las Trancas / 13–1600 m T’line / S & J. Peck Dec. 76 ”.
