I believe a single variable species is present in Trinidad and Tobago , to which several names have been applied. Thus, Kaye and Lamont (1927) probably correctly treated mentiens Walker (TL Venezuela ) and birchi Druce (TL Trinidad , Colombia , an all ♀ species in NHMUK) as synonyms of medarda Stoll (TL Surinam ), although Watson and Goodger (1986) and Vincent and Laguerre (2014) treat them as valid species.
