Amauropelta amphioxypteris
(Sodiro) Salino & T.E.Almeida, PhytoKeys
57: 16. 2015
.
=
Thelypteris amphioxypteris
(Sodiro) A.R.Sm., Fl.
Ecuador
18: 17. 1983
.
Range:—
Panama
to
Ecuador
;
Bolivia
(BE, CO, LP).
Ecology:—
Uncommon; terrestrial in humid forests, especially along trails and roadsides; 300–1050(–1800) m.
Notes:—
Differs from
Amauropelta opposita
by its 3- to 10-celled hairs
0.5–2.5 mm
long on petioles and rachises, especially on the bases of young petioles, and by having 7–12 pairs of veins per segment. Bolivian specimens of
A. amphioxypteris
differ from typical ones from
Ecuador
by having entire, not or only slightly enlarged basal pinna segments (
vs
. crenate and enlarged), and may represent a different species. A specimen from Dept. Cochabamba,
M. Kessler et al. 8231
(UC) is this species, or closely related, but it appears to lack sessile resinous glands on the laminae abaxially; stipe base hairs are long and septate, as typical for this species.
