Arthropods associated with world passalid beetles with particular reference to the Diarthrophallidae (Acari: Mesostigmata) Author Haitlinger, Ryszard text Journal of Natural History 2024 2024-08-12 58 29 - 32 1178 1259 http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/00222933.2024.2373490 journal article 10.1080/00222933.2024.2373490 1464-5262 13758245 FEDRIZZIIDAE Trägårdh, 1937 Fedrizziidae contains three genera with 36 recognised species. Among them, 32 fedrizziid species from three genera have been found on 21 host species belonging to 9 genera ( Womersley 1958a , 1959a ; Pope and Chernoff 1978 ; Rosario and Hunter 1984 ; Corpuz-Raros 2001 ; Seeman 2007, 2013; Lin and Zhang 2013 ). Only two species, Fedrizzia strandi (Oudemans, 1927) and Neofedrizzia laevis (Canestrini, 1884) , have not been found on Passalidae so far. Most species were collected from Mastachilus australasicus (Percheron, 1841) (11), Pharochilus dilatatus (Dalman, 1817) (9) and M. quaestionis (Kuwert, 1891) (5) and the largest number of hosts found is for Fedrizzia bornemisszai Womersley, 1959 (5), Neofedrizzia camini Womersley, 1959 (5) and F. sellinicki Womersley, 1959 (4). Twenty species were collected from only one host. On five species of Passalidae only Fedrizziidae were found: Fedrizzia bornemisszai on Analaches australiensis (Stoliczka, 1873) , F. oudemansi Womersley, 1959 , F. parvipilus Seeman, 2007 , Neofedrizzia camini on Mastachilus near australasicus , F. bornemisszai , F . cf. grossipes , F. sellnicki on Aulacocyclus sp. , F. bornemisszai on Analaches sp. and Gonatas sp. and F. grossipes on Passalidae undet. ( Tables 2 , 5 , 6 and 10 ).
