Status Endemic subspecies. Obtained by most collectors and seen by nearly all visitors. Widespread and common in all wooded habitats. Breeding 13 March 1976 : two nearly fledged young, probably this species, held by children ( Melville 1979 ); 12 January 1997 : a well-developed fledgling; 26 April 2007 an adult carrying nest materials (SvB); 24 September 2019 : two begging juveniles (P. Lansley, eBird checklist S87711121).
