Typification of seven names of Sorbus (Rosaceae) from China Author Chen, Xin text Phytotaxa 2016 2016-01-08 243 1 97 99 http://dx.doi.org/10.11646/phytotaxa.243.1.6 journal article 10.11646/phytotaxa.243.1.6 1179-3163 13680840 Sorbus prattii Koehne (1913: 468) Type :— CHINA . Sichuan : “Western Szechuan, Tachien-lu [Luding]”, alt. 3000–4500 m ., Dec. 1890 , A . E . Pratt 234 [GH-00065095!, lectotype ( designated here ); isolectotypes B-10-0278146!, BM-000602075!, E-00010871!, K-000758147!] In the protologue, no holotype was indicated and the species was divided into two forms, S. prattii f. striata Koehne (1913: 468) and S. prattii f. laevis Koehne (1913: 468) and a single gathering, Prat 234 and Wilson 3006 , respectively, was attributed to the two, respectively. The two forms were not recognized by Lu & Spongberg (2003) . Since no holotype was designated for S. prattii in the protologue, both varietal names were validly published like Ex. 3 and 4 under Art. 26.2. According to the Art. 25.1, both Prat 234 and Wilson 3006 can be lectotype of the species. It is obvious that the specific epithet is in honor of Prat, the specimen collector, but it is however not automatically typified by Prat 234 . Here Prat 234 , the type of S. prattii f. striata , is designated as the lectotype of the name S. pratii .
