Sharp stated he had three specimens at his disposal, one male and two females. In this case the specimen was verified as the male with matching locality information. Labels for the designated specimen are as follows: “Capetillo,/ Guatemala ,/G. C. Champion” “B.C.A. Col. II. 1. / Carpophilus /obscurus,/Sharp.”. A red label is added with the following text: “ LECTOTYPE / Carpophilus obscurus Sharp /Desig. By/Powell and Martin 2019”.
