Remarks.
Along with
Pseudaplatopterus
and
Kolibaceum
, the genus
Helcophorus
has both fossil and modern representatives. However, unlike in
Pseudaplatopterus
and
Kolibaceum
, whose living species are referred to separate subgenera (
Eropterus
Green, 1951
, a subgenus of
Pseudaplatopterus
, and
Laterialis
Kazantsev, 1990
and
Tricostaeptera
Kazantsev, 1997
, subgenera of
Kolibaceum
), both extinct and extant species have been discovered in both subgenera of
Helcophorus
(
Kazantsev, 2015
;
2020
).
Distribution.
Southeast of Palaearctic and north of Oriental realms. Fossil taxa known from Baltic and
Rovno
amber (
Fig. 5
).
