The slender chelifore scape without any trace of chela was the most salient feature to differ this species from other Ammothea spp . A. hilgendorfi was commonly observed from low tide areas to shallow seas along the coast of China and usually found in attached communities ( Huang 2008 ; Huang & Cai 1981 ). All of the specimens were sorted from fouling organisms and were taken from the panels laid in the 0 or 5 m deep water over three months. Almost all males were ovigerous.
