Remarks
This is one of larger species of
Primno
, attaining lengths of up to
15 mm
. It is very similar to
P. abyssalis
which, until relatively recently (
Bowman 1985
), was considered a synonym. Although
Bowman (1978)
presumed the
type
of
P. macropa
was lost, his studies of this species are confirmed by the examination of the
type
, which probably came from the subantarctic waters off
Chile
. The distribution of this species is restricted to the subantarctic biotic province.
