The diversity of Rhysida in the Neotropical Region was reduced by Chagas (2013) to seven species: five indigenous ( R. celeris (Humbert & Saussure, 1870) , R. brasiliensis Kraepelin, 1903 , R. rubra Bücherl, 1939 , R. riograndensis Bucherl, 1939 and R. chacona Verhoeff, 1944 ) and two introduced ( R. immarginata (Porat, 1876) and R. longipes (Newport, 1845)) .
