Diagnostic Features. This new species is similar to Steatoda grossa (C.L. Koch, 1838 ) , in New Species of Spiders ( Araneae ) from Hainan Island, China possessing eight sigilla and a long and apically rounded lateral process nearly reaching tip of cymbium. It differs from the named species by having ( 1 ) prominently sinuate embolar process and acute apex of the cymbium, ( 2 ) femur II as long as tibia I and femur III as long as tibia IV, and ( 3 ) tibia II as long as metatarsus II. Etymology. Named after type locality.
