Etymology
. The species name refers to the wide ivory frontal orbits.
Description
.
♀
. Body length 12.0 mm.
Head
. Flagellum with 33 flagellomeres, almost filiform; 1
st
flagellomere 2.4 × longer than wide, about 9
th
flagellomere square, widest flagellomeres 1.2 × wider than long. Temple rather short, distinctly and roundly behind eye, with fine sparse punctures (fig. 26B). OED 1.1 × and OOD 1.3 × ocellar diameter. Frons almost smooth. Face densely punctate medially, with sparse punctuation laterally. Clypeus almost flat, with sparse punctures; apical margin blunt, straight (fig. 26A). Mandible with two teeth, ventral tooth much smaller than dorsal tooth, not bent inwards. Malar space 0.4 × as long as width of mandibular base. Gena with sparse punctures. Genal carina reaching hypostomal carina close to mandibular base.
Mesosoma
. Notaulus impressed in frontal 0.25 of mesoscutum. Mesoscutum with sparse, ± superficial punctures, strongly shining. Mesopleuron with dense punctures ventrally, with fine very sparse punctures dorsally. Speculum large and smooth. Metapleuron with rather dense punctures; juxtacoxal carina present. Scutellum slightly elevated, about as long as wide, with rather dense punctures, without lateral carina.Propodeum (fig. 26C) completely carinated, without apophysis; spiracle slit-shaped. Area basalis 1.5 × wider than long, without median tubercle, ± confluent with area superomedia. Area superomedia heart-shaped, 1.2 × longer than wide; costula in its middle. Hind coxa with dense punctures and distinct scopa apico-ventrally. Hind femur densely but superficially punctate, 3.5 × longer than wide. Claws simple. Areolet pentagonal, frontal distance between veins 2rs-m and 3rs-m 2.0 × their width. Vein 1cu-a slightly postfurcal by 1.0 × its width.
Metasoma
(fig. 26D). Oxypygous. Postpetiole moderately widened, without latero-median carina; median field somewhat elevated, with fine aciculation; lateral field coarsely punctate.2
nd
tergite 1.1 ×wider than long.Gastrocoelus distinctly impressed, almost smooth. Thyridium slightly oblique, 0.8 × as wide as the interval between thyridia. 2
nd
and 3
rd
tergites densely rugose-punctate, dull, with longitudinal rugae medially. 4
th
tergite with superficial puncture, shining. 2
nd

th
sternites with median folds. Ovipositor sheath slightly reaching behind metasomal apex.
Colour
. Black. Ivory are dorsal stripes of flagellomeres 7–17, palps, mandible except teeth, apical margin of clypeus, spot on gena, wide frontal orbit up to vertex (fig. 27B), upper margin of pronotum, subtegular ridge, posteroventral spot of mesopleuron, prescutellar ridge, postscutellum, spot in front of propodeal spiracle and posterolateral stripe on propodeum (fig. 26C). Tergites black; postpetiole, 2
nd
and 3
rd
tergites with posterolateral ivory spots; 6
th
and 7
th
tergites mainly ivory (fig. 26D). Fore and mid coxae brown, with apical ivory spots; hind coxa black, with dorsal ivory spot; fore and mid trochanters ivory; fore and mid legs otherwise reddish-brown; hind leg black; hind tibia with diffuse subbasal dark reddish ring. Wings hyaline; pterostigma black.
♁ unknown.
Remarks
. This new species runs to
Lissosculpta celebensis
Heinrich
in his key of
Lissosculpta
species
from
Sulawesi
(
Heinrich 1934: 195–196
). It differs by its smaller size and reduced ivory colour pattern: face, collar, mesoscutum and scutellum are entirely black. It also resembles
L. irregularis
Heinrich
but differs by the surface structure of its postpetiole, black face and mainly dark fore and mid coxae.
L. irregularis
seems to be rather variable (
Heinrich 1934: 202
), and
L. albifrons
might represent a variant of this species only.
Distribution
. Only known from
Sulawesi
.
