is a small and slender species with a macro-morphological resemblance to

. It differs from that species by having significantly smaller basidiomata and irregularly rugulose spores (SEM). It has a distinctly membranous exoperidium and a fibrillose-fimbriate mouth.

<paragraph pageId="673" pageNumber="674">This species extends from Newfoundland (Lindroth 1955a: 146) to southeastern Alaska, including Kodiak Island (Lindroth 1968: 896), south to mountains in southeastern California (Lindroth 1968: 896; San Bernardino County, CNC) and New Mexico (Fall and Cockerell 1907: 162), northwestern Indiana (Blatchley 1910: 193), and southeastern West Virginia (Greenbrier County, CNC). The record from &quot;North Carolina&quot; (Bousquet and Larochelle 1993: 226) needs confirmation.</paragraph>
