 )], smaller valves tending towards ca 30 μm, width ± constant, forming less convex ventral margin. Each valve with two transapical ribs dividing valve into three ± equal parts. Ribs evident externally by clear area, extending through to entire mantle, indicating it as part of valve. Internally raised by 2–3 μm tapering towards mantle edge. Areolae ± round, radiating from eccentric hyaline centre, sometimes elongated. Rimoportulae absent. Few simple pores observed, randomly distributed on valve, notably near hyaline centre, absent elsewhere. Cribra with well-developed, complex volate structure, usually having 2–4 (– 6) pegs supporting complex (contorted) closing plate. External surface of valve finely ornamented. Girdle composed of few bands (3–4?), valvocopula and copulae, each with one curved row of areolae. Species synapomorphy: denser striation, less ornamented areolae.

 : Prostomium fusiform with rounded, truncate to slightly rounded or bluntly pointed anterior end, occasionally with slight medial peaks; with a raised, narrow ridge on the posterior region of the prostomium; caruncle absent. Eyes present or absent. Peristomium fused with first achaetous segment, forming large lateral membranous wings enclosing prostomium. A pair of grooved palpi with membranous basal sheath. Eversible bilobate proboscis. Muscular gizzard present. Chaetiger 1 well developed, distinct from preceding segments. Two or three pairs of branchiae. When three pairs of branchiae are present, these are on chaetigers 1-3, all with densely packed lamellar plates attached serially on inner to posterior face of shaft, excepting in the basal region and distal tips.  </paragraph>
 <paragraph id="4B6A1FEA263C365A74790C23B6584C33">Valves lunate, occasionally fusiform, length 60–65 μm, width 20–25 μm, width ± constant, forming less convex ventral margin. Each valve with two transapical ribs dividing valve into three ± equal parts. Ribs evident externally by clear area, extending through to entire mantle, indicating it as part of valve. Internally raised by 2–3 μm tapering towards mantle edge. Areolae ± round, radiating from eccentric hyaline centre. Rimoportulae absent. Cribra detail not visible or preserved. Girdle unknown.</paragraph>
