. Species in this group are variable in coloration, with elongate males (3.64.0) and more ovoid females (3.53.9). The entire dorsum, except the head, is clothed with a mixture of silvery narrow, apically acuminate scale-like setae, and dense, comparatively long simple setae that are approximately 1.5 × as long as the scales. The apical blades of the vesica are very long, thin, gradually curved, and abruptly furcate. Species of this group feed exclusively on

</paragraph>

Annual or perennial herb, 0.51.0 m high, more or less tufted, not reported to be aromatic; tubers lacking or not collected. Stem erect or ascending, quadrangular, more or less lignified in lower part, sparingly branched, with a mixed indumentum of very short, papilliform hairs and sparse, long, patent, multicellular hairs, these sometimes almost lacking, also with sparse sessile red glands, becoming subglabrous to papillate in the inflorescence. Leaves opposite, spreading, petiolate, blade broadly ovate to cordiform or almost reniform, shorter than the petiole, (1.0 ) 2.04.5 × (0.8 ) 1.84.0 cm, apex rounded to subacute, base truncate (in the smallest leaves) to cordate, then shortly attenuate into the petiole, margin often recurved, purplish, strongly crenate to serrate, teeth rounded, ca. 4 / cm, 45 secondary veins on either side, densely covered with very short papilliform hairs on both surfaces, also with sparse long hairs, lower surface also with many red sessile glands, reticulum prominent below; petiole
