Based on Vickery and
<normalizedToken originalValue="Poinars">Poinar's</normalizedToken>
(1994) photograph of the holotype (a nymph), it is clear that this species does not belong in
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Gryllidae" genus="Proanaxipha" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Proanaxipha" order="Orthoptera" pageId="3" pageNumber="114" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Proanaxipha</taxonomicName>
or even within
<taxonomicName lsidName="" pageId="3" pageNumber="114" rank="subFamily" subFamily="Pentacentrinae">Pentacentrinae</taxonomicName>
. Unfortunately, neither the illustration nor the original description are sufficient to determine the subfamilial placement of this species, a situation that is further complicated by the nymphal condition of the specimen.

and while both seem possible, neither can be confirmed. Therefore, the species is herein regarded as a nomen inquirendum until the type can be redescribed.
