. His material, in collections at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (SMNH #8214 7), was re-examined to determine whether it is conspecific. Jäderholms hydroid comprises a small colony growing on seaweed, with a dozen stems (some unbranched, some sparingly-branched), up to
<quantity id="4CD3C9EF9F50FFF3FD64275FFD266023" box="[681,749,263,287]" metricMagnitude="-3" metricUnit="m" metricValue="3.0" pageId="13" pageNumber="32" unit="mm" value="3.0">3 mm</quantity>
high, and four gonothecae. The stems are morphologically indistinguishable from those in our material (compare fig. 2F and G), except for somewhat thicker perisarc. A pseudodiaphragm is present in some hydrothecae but absent in others (fig.
<date id="FF9542CA9F50FFF3FBCD2717FBD0605B" box="[1024,1051,335,359]" pageId="13" pageNumber="32">2I</date>
). Gonothecae are small, stolonal, borne on rather long pedicels, lenticular in shape with a circular aperture, and with slightly thickened perisarc. Some contain a few spherical eggs,

. 50 µm in diameter (fig. 2L). The stout habit of the colony, as well as hypertrophy of its perisarc, may be due to continual movement of its algal substrate.

Jäderholm's hydroid appears clearly different from Torrey's (1902) species in the following respects: 1) branching is spare and very irregular, while specimens of the latter had &quot;regularly alternating branches&quot;; 2) the internodes of the former are slender, very irregular and long, while
