is long compared to most other rajin skates, and this value is greater in the adult male than in females (20.1% vs. 15.6–18.6% TL). Thorn patterns are similar between the sexes with the median tail thorns well developed and in 3 closely spaced rows, those in the middle row being sparser and distinctly smaller than those in the rows adjacent. The lateral thorns are similar in shape, more numerous, and extend along the edges of the tail and the dorsolateral region of tail is naked. In the adult male, the alar thorn patch is relatively small and oval in shape, and there are no malar thorn patches. Coloration appears consistent between the sexes.
