Prothallus not seen. Thallus pale brown, epilithic, thin, continuous. Perithecia 0.38-0.55 mm, 1/2-3/4-immersed, leaving deep pits in the rock; ca. 30-40 perithecia/cm2. Ostiole tiny, inconspicuous, dark, plane, often surrounded by a projecting neck up to ca. 150 mm wide. Involucrellum absent. Exciple ca. 0.38-0.45 mm in diam., wall dark, ca. 30-40 mm thick, apex thickened to 70-100 mm thick. Periphysoids ca. 50-60

The species is rather similar to
