The Picazuro Pigeon was identified by its color, shape, and size (

); this species is the largest columbid in
<collectingCountry box="[237,306,1759,1783]" name="Brazil" pageId="25" pageNumber="870">Brazil</collectingCountry>
. The individual was dark bluish gray on the flanks and tail coverts, its breast, head, neck, and nape were bluish purple, with the nape with white dashes, and the wings were dark gray with white bands.
