One of the male paratypes of
<taxonomicName id="C8750EF2CB0157F77B706DBB29E8D8B5" lsidName="Q. ouzbekiscus" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="ouzbekiscus">Q. ouzbekiscus</taxonomicName>
(new synonym of
<taxonomicName id="FC45FAB4B5E88FBCC6F65F673AC99051" lsidName="Q. hauseri" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="hauseri">Q. hauseri</taxonomicName>
) was in fact a different species that we tentatively identify as
<taxonomicName id="C078B427F10C01880EA30372DE4AAEAB" lsidName="Q. fulvicollis" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Q. fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
. It can be easily distinguished from
<taxonomicName id="52958A11BA306B97AA03774E534470E6" lsidName="Q. hauseri" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="hauseri">Q. hauseri</taxonomicName>
by the shape of the paramere (compare Fig. 23C and Figs 19C, 21C, respectively).
<taxonomicName id="738ED333F89D9DA3FFD0BCE5CBE24897" class="Insecta" family="Staphylinidae" genus="Quedius" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Quedius fulvicollis" order="Coleoptera" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Quedius fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
is considered a widely distributed Holarctic species, in Asia confined to Siberia and Russian Far East (
<normalizedToken id="D9EDC9BE7A631547956A34023EE7893D" originalValue="Schülke">Schuelke</normalizedToken>
and Smetana, 2015). The specimen from Chatkal Mountains in Uzbekistan examined here would be a distinct southernmost record for this species in the Palaearctic region and the first record for Middle Asia. In this respect it is noteworthy that it comes from ca. 1500 m of elevation. Also it is remarkable that this specimen from Middle Asia stands out from the variability range of
<taxonomicName id="523FFF828441E6F470E698368693B6A1" lsidName="Q. fulvicollis" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Q. fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
by the very narrow middle portion of the paramere and shorter and more irregular rows of peg setae. It well may be that our specimen represents a species new to science. Given the poorly studied variation of
<taxonomicName id="8BF4D9035F148A5895B96D185DC28472" lsidName="Q. fulvicollis" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Q. fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
, which itself maybe a complex of species and very limited material from Middle Asia, a decision on this matter is pending further study.

In general
<taxonomicName id="5D0AB1F042FD7CDEEF7714689C89736B" lsidName="Q. fulvicollis" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Q. fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
prefers forest landscapes and usually can be found in wet ground-based debris, at banks of ponds, forest lakes and in swampy areas. Apart from the elevation, no bionomic data is available for the Middle Asian specimen. An earlier record of
<taxonomicName id="44E474B2E81D9AB09AD67027F9CD89FF" lsidName="Q. fulvicollis" pageId="24" pageNumber="141" rank="species" species="fulvicollis">Q. fulvicollis</taxonomicName>
from Tajikistan in
<bibRefCitation id="C17CFCB93244F4D99F71AEDEA193B636" pageId="24" pageNumber="141">Klimenko (1996)</bibRefCitation>
was based on uncertain material and needs verification.
