: In the original description, Mathews gave his catalog number of the type, which he also noted on his collection and type labels, and the type locality. In his catalog, Mathews listed

. There are, in fact, 12 such specimens in AMNH that had been in the Mathews Collection, but it proved impossible to match the dates recorded by Mathews with the dates on Whitlock’s labels. The
also bears a yellow ‘‘Figured’’ label, indicating that it was the model for the male in
