Current taxonomy of this leech genus is uncertain. Closely related specimens of
<taxonomicName class="Clitellata" family="Glossiphoniidae" genus="Alboglossiphonia" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Alboglossiphonia papillosa" order="Rhynchobdellida" pageId="0" pageNumber="23" phylum="Annelida" rank="species" species="papillosa">Alboglossiphonia cf. papillosa</taxonomicName>
with homologous or very similar COI gene sequence (acc. nos. KM095100 and KM095101) (uncorrected p-distance &lt;1%) were collected from the Gusinoye Lake, Yenisei Basin, Eastern Siberia (
<bibRefCitation author="Kaygorodova, IA" journalOrPublisher="International Journal for Parasitology" pageId="0" pageNumber="23" url="https://doi.org/10.1155/2014/619127" year="2014">Kaygorodova et al. 2014</bibRefCitation>
). The BLAST search with the 18S rRNA gene sequence returns the nearest members among the
