Frontal appendages short, provided with small conical outgrowths. Distal antennameres long and narrow, evenly curved, sickle-shaped, reaching to IVV thoracopods IVV. Distal fleshy process on labrum evenly curved forwards. Short stout spine-like projections present at each side of basal portion of gonopods. Distal margin of abdominal segments each provided with pair of large ventrolateral spine-like projections. Abdominal somites each with pair of medial spine-like projections on posterior margin; projections on first segment large, remainder smaller and progressively reduced towards posterior.

It is remarkable that the species has not been recorded in the western half of the country despite extensive sampling and presence of many suitable habitats, where its most common associated species are found. The lakes that it inhabits are shallow, temporary or permanent, but the latter freeze totally in the extremely cold Mongolian winter and therefore behave also as temporary. Waters are athalassic mesosaline, with salinities ranging between 10.8 and
<quantity id="4CDF9B3FFF83BA7358E34D07FA1F662E" box="[1231,1282,295,319]" metricMagnitude="-2" metricUnit="kg" metricValue="2.5" pageId="10" pageNumber="359" unit="g" value="25.0">25 g</quantity>
/L. Dominant ions are carbonate and/or chloride, and sodium. Water turbidity is high due to presence of suspended clay particles that are generally gray-coloured.
