. The spiky gonostyli of

, there is a bifurcate dorsomedial process (

, 1993: fig. 2B, Fig. 23B). For these reasons, it seems appropriate that this species be transferred to

. Further study is needed to evaluate the position of
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mycetophilidae" genus="Drepanocercus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Drepanocercus ensifer" order="Diptera" pageId="24" pageNumber="65" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="ensifer">Drepanocercus ensifer</taxonomicName>
; for now, it remains separated from
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Mycetophilidae" genus="Acomoptera" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Acomoptera" order="Diptera" pageId="24" pageNumber="65" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Acomoptera</taxonomicName>
by its original defining characters.
